To the thrills of children of all ages, Santa did not disappoint, shaking hands with children and waving and greeting the crowds at:

  • Whitemarsh and Gordon    5:15pm
  • Terminal and Erdenheim   5:25pm (Seltzer Home)
  • Gendalough and Chesney   5:35pm  (Henry Home)
  • Longfield and Terminal      5:45 pm  (McLafferty Home)
  • Preston and Shippen          5:55pm
  • Fraser and Bent                6:05pm

Held each Christmas Eve for over 50 years the community has embraced the trek of St. Nick through the neighborhoods and parties and family reunions are actually planned around it. Originally conceived by Rosemary Samtmann and Lou McGettigan in 1957 the Run has grown in popularity and children of all ages enjoy welcoming Santa and Mrs. Claus on the rear of Ladder 6 each Dec. 24th. A similar run happens in Erdenheim on the Sunday prior to Christmas yet is much younger having started in 2000. Photos by Bob Wilmot, Jr.

The “old bell”, was used to alert the firefights of a fire alarm before it was replaced by the mechanical siren that we use today.

We plan to refurbish the bell, and put it on display as it is a piece of our heritage.
