Truck Fire – 305 Penn Oak Rd. – 10/05/2011

A little after 10PM on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, a truck on fire next to a home was reported. Squad 6 and Engine 6 followed by Utility 6 responded to 305 Penn Oak Rd. Command 6 responded from around the corner and hit the fire with an extinguisher to help beat it back. The rear of painter’s truck was on fire with drop clothes, paint and tools fully involved and melting the siding on the home to which was parked adjacent. Squad 6 pulled a 1.75 hoseline and a booster hose to protect the exposure and worked to clear out the rear of the truck to extinguish the burning contents. Engine 6 followed with supplying tank water to Squad 6 and doing an interior search for extension, none was found.

Vehicle Accident – 09/05/2011

Squad 6 and Engine 6 responded to a three car vehicle accident on Skippack Pike (Route 73) just past Joshua Road on Monday, September 5, 2011. The driver of a white SUV, complaining of having difficulty breathing, was extricated from the vehicle. Squad 6 popped the driver’s door and the patient was removed. All others involved in the accident were out of the vehicles. Utility 6 along with Traffic 29 handled closing down Route 73 until the accident scene could be cleared. Rescue 29 also responded and assisted Flourtown Fire Company on the scene.

FFCo vs. Boy Scouts Water Battle – 2011

The Boy Scouts hold an annual week-long camp at Fort Washington State Park. As a way to celebrate the end of a long, hot week, the Boy Scouts hold a water battle and invite Flourtown Fire Company to add some “extra” water to the festivities. Using the deck gun on Engine 6, and supplemented by Squad 6, we make it rain for over 100 boy scouts and friends.

45 Weiss Avenue – Gas Leak

At 12:47 PM on Monday, February 14 a crew working on installing a new water main in Weiss hit a 3 inch gas main. Squad 6 and Engine 6 responded and Fire Police shut down access to the street from both Bethlehem Pike and W. Mill Road. PECO soon arrived on the scene and clamped off the ruptured pipe.

1250 Pinetown Road, Upper Dublin – House Fire

Initial reports at 11:57 am of heavy smoke coming from the basement of 1250 Pinetown Road in Upper Dublin had Fort Washington Fire Company and units from Roslyn Fire Company, Oreland, and Flourtown Fire Company respond. Flourtown Fire Company’ Squad 6 was initially dispatched as a FAST unit and Engine 6 and Utility 6 were requested for additional resources and personnel. The fire advanced from the basement to all three floors of the large home and personnel were sent to the roof to open up particularly hot spots.

Whitemarsh Basement Fire – 02/05/10

Friday, January 5, 2010 at 17:00hrs, Stations 29 (Barren Hill) and 6 (Flourtown) were dispatched to the 6300 block of Fairfield Drive for the Dwelling fire. Deputy 6 on scene with heavy smoke showing, confirming all occupants out of the building and establishing 29 command. Engine 6′s crew led off with an 1-3/4″ line and found moderate fire in the basement. A quick knock was put on the fire, as Ladder 6 and 29′s crew laddered the building and checked for extension. Squad 6 established a water supply. Rescue 82 (Wyndmoor) handled the RIT assignment. Stations 45(Spring Mill) and 56(Lincoln) were also dispatched on the Whitemarsh working fire procedure.
